Supercharging the FRC 2.0

Like many other cars I have owned, my C7 Corvette is not mentioned in this blog because I sold it before I started the blog. I bought it in early 2019 to replace the FRC. I wanted to upgrade the FRC to a newer Vette with HUD, heated/cooled seats among other creature comforts. In order to help get the C7 paid off I planned to sell the FRC. It seemed that my sub couscous did not want to sell it as I never got around to posting it for sale. My friend who I bought the car from in 2013 said he may be interested in buying it back but since I had changed the car so much since I bought it from him he wanted to come drive it. He showed up with another friend and because I was busy working on a project and he was used to driving fast cars I just told them to take it out. I’m not sure what exactly happened but on the drive they broke the serpentine belt and limped the car back with no power steering or water pump.

I just let the car sit for a few weeks debating what I wanted to do. Ultimately I decided the old supercharger kit was such a pain to work on I wanted to just pull it off and sell it then use the proceeds towards a supercharger on the Sierra. That’s exactly what I did while also deciding against selling the FRC itself. For the next two years I experimented with doing my own tuning on it, tuning from start to finish a handful of times with different fuel injectors, operating systems etc.

After selling the C7 last summer due to it having a constant stream of issues and my job transitioning to work from home I decided I wanted to put another A&A supercharger kit on the FRC . This spring I called and they put together a custom kit for me as I was setup for a 8 rib belt, and had a number of parts already. After waiting a bit over a month it showed up.

Before: Based on similar cars this made about 400whp.

Since I already had the fuel system done and crank pulley pinned from the last supercharger my list was a little shorter this time. Lower the radiator cradle down, install supercharger brackets/belt/supercharger itself, swap in 2 bar map sensor, move/modify the horn, trim a couple panels, install intercooler/panels, run charge pipes, slight PCV tweak, and vacuum line to BOV. The supercharger/belt and intercooler install are both two person jobs which Mark and I knocked out.

Had to pull the intake to swap the 1 bar to 2 bar MAP sensor.
This stuff won’t stay shiny for long!
Ready to go!
